“Were Wed Wednesday. Miss Mary Elizabeth Bayless Wed To John Trois Campbell.

“Characterized by simplicity, the marriage of Miss Mary Elizabeth Bayless, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bourke H. Bayless to John Trois Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Moore Campbell, was solemnized at three o’clock, Wednesday, February 27, 1946, at the Presbyterian Church. The troth was made by Reverend Clarence Campbell, who performed the double-ring ceremony in the presence of the immediate family.

“A prie-dieu (prayer desk), pillowed with white brocade, centered the altar flanked with tall floor baskets of white gladioli and candelabras of burning tapers. Mrs. Jack Elrod was candle-lighter. She wore a soft blue wool jersey gown with blue accessories. Her corsage was pink sweet peas.

“Miss Martha Ann Pigott, of Oklahoma City, a sorority sister of the bride, sang ‘Through the Years’ and ‘Because,’ accompanied by R. Harris Fowler at the organ, who played a medley of wedding selections.

“The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose white silk shantung trimmed in white Irish lace and pearl buttons. She wore a half-hat garlanded with white rose buds and a pair of white lace mitts belonging to her maternal grandmother, the late Mrs. E.E. Willever of Ithaca, New York. She carried a white prayer book topped with an orchid from which white satin streamers and sweet peas cascaded.

“Miss Blanche Riggs, maid of honor, wore a suit of pale blue silk with matching accessories. Her corsage was red rose buds. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Grover T. Davenport, who chose gray wool, and Miss Wilma Lee Alton in sky blue jersey, both wearing corsages of sweet peas.

“W.K. Rogers, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, was Mr. Campbell’s best man.

“Mrs. Bayless was gowned in ice blue silk with matching hat and the bridegroom’s mother wore a lime green ensemble with black accessories. They wore white gardenias.

“A reception followed for the couple in the Bayless home with the families and wedding party in attendance. The bride’s table, centered with white carnations and burning tapers, held the traditional three-tiered wedding cake topped with miniature bridal couple. Miss Inez Campbell, the bridegroom’s sister, and Mrs. W.K. Rogers served the guests.

“For going away, Mrs. Campbell wore a wool jersey dress of Nile green trimmed with watermelon pink with black accessories. They will be at home in Peoria, Illinois after a short wedding trip.
